Andy Goldsworthy: The Spire. Art Hike in the Presidio

Regarding Art SF’s Goldsworthy hike is a 3-mile loop that allows us to learn about, experience, and commune with each of his Presidio sculptures as well as the wooded beauty and historic grandeur of the Presidio itself.  The hike is approximately 2.5 hours and includes moderate up and downhill stretches and various surfaces along the park’s major trails.

San Francisco is home to the largest collection of works by renowned site-specific British artist, Andy Goldsworthy. Goldsworthy is famous for creating art from natural materials found close at hand and became fascinated with the complex interplay between city, nature, people and place he found in the Presidio.  Inspired to return to the Presidio to work many times, Goldsworthy has created four art installations for the Presidio Trust:  Spire (2006), Wood Line (2011-12), Tree Fall (2013) and, his latest, Earth Wall (2014).
